""""The Obvious:""""

The Texas Workforce Commission, CareerConnections, Monster.com, Dice.com, the Sunday newspaper. These are obvious and should ALWAYS be used, whether they succeed for you or not.

The unknown part of the Monster, Dice and other firms is: The are used by recruiters more than the hiring companies. The recruiters check for fresh info on each, searching for the skill sets that will fit the needs of their clients. They are doing what HR once did, but due to downsizing and outsourcing HR, now have to depend on good recruiters to do.

Touch your resume on each one at least once every two weeks to keep high on the list. They search and sort by newness of the resume (update, update, update) and the skill sets listed.

The Sunday Newspaper gives you a list of who is consistently looking for people, whether they are hiring immediately or not. They also list ""JOB FAIRS!""

Job Fairs are a great tool to find who is hiring and what they are actively searching for. Even if YOU aren't what they are actively seeking, talk to them anyway; I've found that they look for professionals regardless of the job fair, will give you other leads not listed and more. This includes things like the Border Patrol, who are part of the Homeland Defense, who are looking for IT pro's to build up their IT infrastructure and search for terrorist activities (they were seriously looking for someone to patrol the Mexican and Canadian borders when I talked with them about 2 years ago). You must communicate and ask what might be available for you, even at a milk delivery route like Schwann's...
