Special Interest GroupsVarious Special Interest Groups (SIGs) exist for members to meet and collaborate. SIGs typically meet each month directly following the primary user group presentation/meeting. For information on current activities, you may contact the SIG leader listed or visit the links below.
Career and Consulting SIGSIG Leader(s): Alvin Goats; (not listed) The Career & Consulting SIG is for those who are seeking jobs, looking for new job opportunities, trends in industry and for networking. We often have recruiters present who are either looking for specific talent or can give insight into the hiring trends they see and networking methods that get their attention. Members of the DFWUUG also have access to the Jobs and SIG-Career mailing lists. The jobs mailing list is for the posting of job opportunities and includes recruiters and HR people who are not members of the DFWUUG and who do post job openings. The SIG-Career mailing list is for open discussion and the ONE TIME posting of your resume in inline ASCII text, NO ATTACHMENTS, NO HTML, NO SPECIAL FORMATTING. All topics concerning business, careers, consulting, outsourcing, offshore, etc. can be discussed in the SIG-Career list. NOTE: This SIG meets at 6:00pm - 6:45pm BEFORE the main DFWUUG monthly meeting. Please contact a SIG leader if you would like to schedule a presentation. Linux SIGSIG Leader(s): Jeff Rush; 972-768-6313 The DFWUUG Linux SIG promotes the use of Linux and Open Source solutions to solve business problems as well as a forum for individuals and companies to discuss relevant topics related to Linux and Open Source. Presentations generally include a hands-on demonstration of topics ranging from Embedded Linux to Databases and LDAP. The meeting format is generally informal and questions are encouraged. Typical attendees are newbies to subject matter experts. Please contact a SIG leader if you would like to schedule a presentation.
