Linux Software:Linux programs that should be installed for users to be able to function without much trouble. Some items may have to be recompiled in order for the users to be able to do things like watch DVD's. Firefox
Thunderbird
Sunbird
mplayer
Firefox mplayer-plugin (Beyond Bows & Arrows can be listened to on the internet through this plug-in)
sox
lame
k3b
kaudiocreator
Adobe Acrobat (I know there's other stuff like xpdf, but Acrobat looks and behaves the same in Linux and Windows)
Wine, with some software to help it better.
dosbox or dosemu, for those really old programs that are loved, but Windows won't play nice with (an "extra" incentive to convert to Linux)
Gimp
Cinelerra or some other video editor
qdvdauthor (it works like a lot of the Microsoft software bundled with DVD burners)
Samba
NFS
